I am a self-taught freelance photographer originally from Southern California and currently based just outside of Washington, D.C., though available for assignment elsewhere. I was given a point and shoot camera for my study abroad travels in undergrad. I was hooked on photography as a hobby from that point forward, but it wasn't until the pandemic that I began to take photography seriously.
I just wrapped up a two-year photography assistant position in the Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) at the University of Maryland. I joined the OMC in 2023 after receiving my Ph.D. in Human Development and Quantitative Methodology from the University of Maryland. I freelance for D.C. United, D.C. Power F.C., The Lyric, and Half Moon Magazine where I specialize in sports, portraits, and entertainment. I am a member of Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW) and am an associate member of the University Photographers' Association of America (UPAA).
I have been published in The Washington Post Metro print section for my coverage of McKeldin Library lit green ahead of Kermit the Frog's commencement address. My photography of Kermit the Frog delivering his commencement address was also picked up by the AP and featured nationally and internationally on AP News, NPR, CNN, NBC, The Washington Post, and The Times, among other outlets.
While in graduate school I was a staff sports photographer for The Diamondback, the University of Maryland's independent student newspaper. Growing up playing soccer and softball, I loved every second of capturing Maryland's numerous collegiate sports. During the summer of 2023 I interned as a production assistant at Celebro Media, Inc., where I operated robotic cameras for an international broadcast news program. As a psychology and international relations major in undergrad, this was an awesome opportunity to learn broadcast video production in a context I was inherently interested in. I also volunteered with the University of Maryland's athletics department during the Fall 2021 semester.
I have photographed concerts, comedy shows, and other performances at 9:30 Club (D.C.), The Anthem (D.C.), The Atlantis (D.C.), Howard Theatre (D.C.), Lincoln Theater (D.C.), State Theatre (VA), Capitol One Hall (VA), The Lyric (MD), Magooby's Joke House (MD), The Byham Theater (PA), Helium Comedy Club (PA), The Pittsburgh Improv (PA), The Wilbur (MA), and The Bell House (NY), among other venues. I look forward to working together.
